Adelaide, Australia is home to one of the most opulent hospitals in the world, having surpassed mammoth edifices like The Shard in London, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai or the altitudinous Singaporean skyscrapers, coming second to only One World Trade Centre in the Big Apple.
With its gargantuan size which is complimented by the most expensive and sophisticated infrastructure, it has snagged the spot of the third most expensive building in the world.
Endowed with over eight hundred beds, the hospital’s imminent inauguration was first expected to fall in the month of April this year but reports purport that the culmination of the construction process will only come about during the later half of 2016.
An extensive renovation and refurbishment is underway at the site of the hospital, at the hem of which lies the final construction cost estimate. This is augured to be $2.7 Billion. This staggering sum clinched the world title of being the third most luxurious medical facility for The New Royal Adelaide Hospital in accordance with the list amassed by the building data company, Emporis, which is headquartered in Germany.
New York City’s One World Centre placed first on the list, closely followed by the Palace of Parliament in Bucharest, Romania.
But Australia nabbing a position in terms of an exorbitant infrastructural facility isn’t unprecedented for the “down under” territory. Myer Centre, located in Brisbane, stands at the 13th position on the same Emporis list due to its accrued construction cost which amounted to $1 Billion.
A goliath edifice, the Myer Centre is nothing but relentless shopping stores stretched across nine floors, inclusive of Queensland’s largest department store, Myer, and sporting one of the most enormous car parking lots in the country.
Australia’s capital city hasn’t been completely overshadowed on the scale of expensive buildings. Sydney hosts the Chufley Tower, situated at number 16, and ANZ Bank Centre, which are also deemed unfathomably high-priced as far as buildings go!
